The TZ885, member of the StorageWorks tape subsystem family is based on digital linear tape (DLT) technology. It offers the best combination of capacity, performance, reliability, and cost in the industry. This device uses the high-capacity TZ88 0.5-inch tape drive, featuring a dual-channel Read/Write head, high-efficiency data compression (DLZ), and tape mark directories to minimize data access time. DLT uses advanced Reed Solomon error-correction code and 64-bit cyclic redundancy check (CRC), with an overlapping 16-bit CRC on each record to virtually guarantee against an undetected error.
